Q:What's krumpfest 2014
To anyone who wants to participate! USE THE #KRUMP SO WE CAN SEE IT!!!!
I may just try this one :)
Color palette tutorial time!
This is by no means the Only Way To Pick Colors—it’s just a relatively-simple method I use sometimes. I’ve found it works pretty well, almost regardless of what colors you pick—as long as you can keep them organized by those light/dark warm/cool categories, and make sure one category takes up a significantly higher proportion of page space, it usually turns out pretty good!
Some good tips!
So it’s now official :
Studio Ghibli is stopping production of animated feature films, according to producer Toshio Suzuki,
But it’s not the end of Studio Ghibli.
According to my informations, they will keep a small staff for Hayao Miyazaki projects.
And also the “Momonoma” department, which is Yoshiyuki Momose staff for production of commercials, music videos …
Momonoma artists are already freelance, and this is the reality : most of Studio Ghibli staff today are employees, with long term contracts.
Studio Ghibli can’t pay this staff if there’s no more Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata (expensive but profitable) movies on the way.
Ghibli cost too much today, so they’re just stopping the current system.
Before Porco Rosso, Studio Ghibli staff was freelance.
They’re coming back to this previous system.
It’s a restart, like Hoshino and Suzuki said.
Now they will focus on licensing, and Ghibli Museum.
And wait for new viable projects.
So let’s wait & see.
Note : French magazines Le Monde and Liberation already talked about this information many months ago.
Q:The texture in your profile pic is so nice. If it's a PS brush, which brush did you use?
Satoshi Kon - Editing Space & Time
Tony Zhou : “Four years after his passing, we still haven’t quite caught up to Satoshi Kon, one of the great visionaries of modern film. In just four features and one TV series, he developed a unique style of editing that distorted and warped space and time. Join me in honoring the greatest Japanese animator not named Miyazaki.”
This was really interesting! Now I want to rewatch Paprika (super fun movie, PLEASE watch it if you haven’t yet). There’s also a short film at the end.
To Anon, but also anyone else
The ask I received was obviously very personal, so I don’t want to publish it, but to super summarize:
Anon is struggling with art block and depression, and is at a point where they feel that everything they produce is garbage. Everything makes them feel terrible, and they’re looking for some advice.
The ask really hit home with me, and since it’s something I struggle with all the time, I don’t really feel qualified enough to answer. However, I once got some advice from Meredith Gran that’s really helped me since, so I will share THAT instead under a cut
This was nice to find on my dash today.
